The Scholarship
CJI's Young Professionals Committee offers a one-time scholarship of $2,500 to a graduating law school student to help defray the costs of preparation courses, licensure fees, or living expenses related to taking the bar exam. Preference is given to law school students with demonstrated public service experience or interest.
Scholarship Award Criteria
Submit your scholarship application by clicking the link in the section below. Applications must include your resume, a personal statement of your experience or interest in public service, and a narrative essay (300 words max). Example narrative essay prompts include, but are not limited to:
- A personal experience of yours with Colorado's judicial system
- Your view of the importance of Colorado's judicial system in civil society
- Critiques of Colorado's judicial system and where, in your view, it should improve
The scholarship committee will use the following criteria in selecting the awardee:
- Applicant's demonstrated interest in public service
- Description of how the scholarship will help them achieve their goals
- Authentic, compelling narrative essay
- Overall quality of the application

- Application period: April-May 2025
- Application deadline: Friday May 30, 2025
- Awardee selection and notification: Early June 2025
