Program:
"The Rule of Law and Executive Power: Holding Our Presidents Accountable"
In recent years, our nation has again confronted the important question of how we hold our presidents accountable to the rule of law. Former President Donald Trump has been charged in four separate criminal cases, and the U.S. Supreme Court recently deliberated over his claims of presidential immunity from prosecution. Further, he was the subject of a civil case invoking the Constitution's "insurrection clause," which also reached the Supreme Court on appeal of decisions made here in Colorado. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden and his administration have faced legal scrutiny, too. The spotlight on presidential accountability has never been more intense.
In this event, a panel of experts in constitutional law will help us make sense of these cases, the legal and judicial processes at work, and the broader issues of executive power and the rule of law.
Join us for this very interesting, fact-based discussion.
